Alfred, NY —The Gators of Russell Sage College traveled to Alfred University on Wednesday afternoon for their 2021 season opener. Alfred posted a 17-3 win to improve to 3-0 overall and in the Empire 8, while the Gators drop to 0-1 overall and in the league.

RSC's junior attackers Robert Martin (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) and Bailey Martin (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga Central) and rookie Anthony Marrone (Monroe, NJ/Monroe Township) each scored a goal in the action. Robert Martin is the program's all-time leading point scorer as he now has 82 points and also holds the career goal scoring mark with 45 after Wednesday's action. Bailey Martin ranks sixth in career points with 23, while standing fifth in goals with 17. Sophomore Anthony Abreu (Monroe, NJ/Monroe Township) added an assist.

Sage's s junior goalie Michael Capitelli (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) made 18 saves in the contest and stands at 0-1 after allowing 17 goals in the contest. He continues to add to his active career saves mark and now has 182.

The Gators hosts Utica College on March 27 in a 1 p.m. contest. A reminder due to covid protocols, fans are not permitted at ANY RSC Contests this spring.
