Bush, Pasinella and Oeffler honored by Empire 8

Hilton, NY — The Empire 8 released their 2021 Empire 8 Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams on Wednesday and the Russell Sage College women's basketball team was well represented as senior forward Madasyn Bush (Pottersville, NY/North Warren Central), junior guard Sammy Pasinella (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville), and junior forward Kyra Oeffler (Green Island, NY/Heatly) were all honored.

Bush, who was named the Empire 8 Women's Basketball Player of the Week on March 28, was named to the First Team as well as Pasinella. Oeffler was selected for the Empire 8 Women's Basketball Sportswoman Team.

Bush, who added a season-high 21 points against Keuka in the team's season finale, averaged 14.2 ppg with 9.7 rebounds per game, both team-highs on the year. Against Keuka, she also shot 8-for-14 from the floor and added a double-double with a career-best 14 rebounds. Bush's career resume includes 637 points with 418 rebounds in 80 career games played. She is now tied for 16th place on the Gator rebounding list with Ashli Fragomeni (2004-2008), while her career games played ranks 21st. She was the team's high scorer twice, while also finishing this spring season as the high rebounder three times with a pair of double-doubles. Bush stands 15th in career made free throws with 147 as well and is 21st in career appearances.

Pasinella, who averaged 13.7 ppg this spring, also led the team with her 24 assists, while also adding 10 steals and a 4.3 rpg average in six contests. She was the team's high scorer three times this season and had one double-double contest with 17 points and 10 assists against Keuka. On her career, she has now started 33 of 52 games at Sage with 490 career points with 125 assists, 35 steals and 61 career made three-pointers. She is currently 14th in career three pointers.

One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2021 Women's Basketball Sportswoman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen. Oeffler was selected for her efforts this season. She started all six games this season for the program and added 8.8 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game having also led the team with her seven blocked shots. On her career, she has now played in 52 games and has 206 career points with 203 career rebounds with 25 blocked shots. She is tied for 16th in career blocks at Sage.
