RSC Men's Open 2021 Outdoor Season with Several Firsts at ACP Tri-Meet

Albany, NY — Russell Sage College's men's outdoor and field program competed in their first meet of the 2021 season as they competed in a tri-meet with Albany College of Pharmacy and the College of Saint Rose.

A non-team scored meet, the Gators had a number of impressive performances.

Gator rookie Dominic Nova (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) won the 1,500 meter run in 4:16.23. He broke the school record in the process bettering the time of 4:28.5 set by Zack Funk in 2016. Senior Holden Maynard (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) won the 5,000 meter run in 17:06.17, while senior Ellis Richardson (Hudson, NY/Hudson) won the 400 meter dash in 53.46.

In the 100 meter dash, junior Ramasoj Williams (Hyde Park, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt) picked up sixth in 11.79, while Arnoldo Burnett (Bronx, NY/John F. Kennedy) was ninth in 12.30. Rookie Christian Harvey-Maloney (Brooklyn, NY/Urban Assembly School for Green Careers) picked up 12th in 12.88. Junior Deshawn Fleary (Newark, NJ/Immaculate Conception Montclair) had a time of 13.07 and finished in 13th, while rookie Tyler Case (Bronx, NY/Bronx School for Law, Government, and Justice) picked up 14th in 13.12.

Williams was fourth in the 200 meter dash in 24.19, while Harvey-Maloney took seventh in 26.41. Case picked up eighth in 26.73, while Fleary added a time of 26.25 to take 10th.

Also taking home second in the 400 meter dash, Burnett posted a time of 54.12 behind his teammate Richardson who won the event. In the 800 meter run, junior Jared Young (Winthrop, NY/Brasher Falls Central) was second in 2:07.79 and junior Brett LaBier (Albany, NY/Colonie) posted a time of 2:35.23 and was fourth.

The Gators picked up second and fourth in the men's 4 x 100 relay. The second place foursome posted a time of 45.19 behind the fast footwork of Williams, Burnett, junior Tyler Mitchell (Bronx, NY/All Hallows), and Richardson.  The Gator "B" foursome posted a time of 59.98 as senior Noah Vice (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen), Fleary, Case, and Harvey-Maloney combined for RSC.

RSC won the men's 4 x 400 relay as well in 3:31.48 as Williams, Burnett, Mitchell, and Richardson competed in the event and broke the school record as well. They bettered the time of 3:36.82 set in 2019 by Richardson, Mitchell, Williams and Burnett.

In the long jump, Fleary was fifth with a mark of 4.92 meters. Burnett was second in the javelin with a throw of 35.85 meters, while Vice was fifth with his throw of 33.03 meters.
