RSC men's soccer title bid falls short to SJFC

Pittsford, NY—Top seeded St. John Fisher College collected a 3-0 win over No. 3 seeded Russell Sage College in the championship match of the 2021 Empire 8 Men's Soccer Championship. The Gators wrap their season with a record of 5-3 for the year, while the Cardinals went 6-1 this spring.

SJFC led 1-0 at the half as Ben Woolingham scored the first goal of the match at 17:43 on a feed from Brennan Brown and Matt Gentile.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Fisher got a goal from Gentile on a pass from Ryan Brown off a corner kick. The final goal of the match came at 71:51 as Antonio Robles scored on an assist from Ben Conrow and Perri Tegas.

For the game, RSC's s rookie keeper Anthony Molina (Brentwood, NY/Brentwood) made four saves in the action, while Fisher's Jadon Schlierf made three saves in earning the win.

The 2021 championship game appearance for the Gators was the second in program history after the team appeared in the in 2017 title match only to fall to Stevens, 1-0 in the finals.
