Rochester, NY — Sage men's basketball team returned to action travelling to St. John Fisher College for an Empire 8 contest on Sunday afternoon. The host Cardinals posted the 100-68 win to improve to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the league, while the loss puts Sage at 1-1 overall and in the conference.

SJFC held a 49-34 lead at the intermission and held Sage to 14.3% shooting from three-point range for the game, while they hit an impressive 47.6% from beyond the arch.

Junior center Stuart Phair (Canberra, Australia) led the Gators with his season-high 14 points with five rebounds. Phair made 6-of-9 field goal attempts on the day adding a career-best four blocks in the game.

Junior Amani Cummings (Brooklyn, NY/Transit Tech) added 12 points with four assist and two steals for the Gators. erupted for a career-high 19 points in the contest adding nine points in the first stanza, while adding three assists and two steals for the Gators as they finished the night shooting 45.6% from the floor (26-57).

Junior guards Tyler Mitchell (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) and Jalon Borders (Bartow, FL/Bartow) both finished with 11 points, while Borders added five rebounds with three assists and three steals.

SJFC's starting five all finished in double-digit scoring as Brendan Trapper added 22 points and hit 8-of-12 shots from the floor. Mark Valeriani added 17 points and made 5-of-10 from three-point range. Ryan Gentile picked up 17 points, while Daniel Cook led the team with eight rebounds and picked up 15 points to go with his two assists and two steals.

Sage is back in action on March 19 hosting Nazareth College in a 6 p.m. Empire 8 contest. Due to RSC and Empire 8 protocols, no fans are permitted to attend the game in person.
