RSC Track Teams Run to strong ninth place showings at U. of Buffalo Invitational

RUSSELL SAGE COLLEGE WOMEN'S AND MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK TEAMS COMPETE AT UNIVERSITY OF BUFFALO INVITATIONALS

Buffalo, NY — Russell Sage College men's and women's outdoor and field programs travelled to the University of Buffalo to compete in their invitational. RSC had a number of impressive performances in the competition that featured many Division I and Division II competitors. RSC's women's team finished in ninth place with a score of 8 points in a field of 14 teams. The University of Buffalo won the women's title with 214 points. The University of Buffalo also won the men's crown with 235 points as the Gators finished in ninth with 16 points.

Women's Highlights

In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, rookie Emma Cronin (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich Central) took second with a time of 12:24.45. She broke the school record for the event as she bettered the time of Kristin McAlonen (13:14.25 from April 19, 2019).

Rookie Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) was 10th in the 800 meter run in 2:30.40. Her time is a school record as she beat the old mark of 2:33.03 set in 2019 by Sevi Travis.

In the 1,500 meter run, rookie Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) was 19th in 5:13.61 and junior Kristin McAlonen (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) was 35th in 5:54.66.

Also running in the 800 meter run, McAlonen was 34th in 3:02.37. Junior Giannah French (Cherry Plain, NY/Berlin) picked up 36th in 3:06.72.

Sophomore Molly Kane (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) picked up 22nd place in the 5,000 meter run in 21:00.66.

Men's Highlights

Gator rookie Dominic Nova (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) posted a time of 4:18.68 in the 1,500 meter run and finished in 15th place.

In the men's 4 x 100 relay, RSC was fifth in 45.28 behind the work of junior Ramasoj Williams (Hyde Park, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt), senior Noah Vice (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen), junior Tyler Mitchell (Bronx, NY/All Hallows), and senior Ellis Richardson (Hudson, NY/Hudson).

Williams picked up fifth in the 400 meter run in 51.89. In the 100 meter run, Williams was 16th in 12.38 and junior Deshawn Fleary (Newark, NJ/Immaculate Conception Montclair) was 19th in 13.65.  Fleary finished in 17th in the long jump with a mark of 4.97 meters.

In the 800 meter run, Nova was 15th in 2:04.75 and junior Jared Young (Winthrop, NY/Brasher Falls Central) picked up 19th in 2:06.35. Junior Brett LaBier (Albany, NY/Colonie) posted a time of 2:32.21 and picked up 37th place ahead of rookie Carlos Temple (Strykersville, NY/Iroquois) who was 38th in 2:41.18.

In the 200 meter run, senior Ellis Richardson (Hudson, NY/Hudson) led the way for the Gators taking eighth in 24.27. Mitchell was next in 12th in 24.81, while Williams finished in 16th in 25.18. Arnoldo Burnett (Bronx, NY/John F. Kennedy) was 19th in 25.82 and Fleary picked up 21st in 27.43.

In the javelin, Burnett finished in 11th with a toss of 34.84 meters.

 

The Gators are finished in fourth place in the 4 x 400 relay as they posted a time of 3:40.45. Running for the Gators were Williams, Burnett, Nova, and Richardson.
