Three RSC Women's Lacrosse Players Honored by Empire 8

Hilton, NY —Russell Sage College's women's lacrosse team had three players honored with the release of the 2021 Empire 8 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Teams on Monday. The Gators earned a spot in the Empire 8 Tournament this spring, a program first and wrapped their campaign with a record of 3-6.

Named to the Empire 8 Third Team were graduate performer Brittany Gage (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) and sophomore defender Brylee Pelfrey (New Hampton, NY/Minisink Valley), while senior Alex Franco (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) was named to the Empire 8 Women's Lacrosse Sportswoman of the Year Team.

Gage finished the season as the team's point leader with 22 on 12 goals with 10 assists. Gage wraps her stellar career having left her mark on the program's record book. Gage is fourth in career points at Sage with 83 adding 55 goals and 28 assists. Her 55 goals stands seventh in career goals, while her 28 assists was second. She set the program's career ground ball record (129), and caused turnovers record (72), while ranking second wither 134 career draw controls. Gage played in 55 games at RSC, which is No. 2 while her 51 career starts stands second as well. On Sunday, Gage was named the RSC Dean Robinson Senior Female Scholar-Athlete as the student-athlete with the highest grade point average.

Pelfrey, who was a starter in all 9 games this spring, added 10 ground ball pickups with a team-best 21 caused turnovers as a member of the defense. Overall on her career, she played in 12 games and has 17 ground balls with 25 caused turnovers.  

One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2021 Women's Lacrosse Sportswoman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.

Franco, who was a starter in 8 games this spring and added seven points. She had three goals with four assists and added five ground ball pickups with a draw control and one caused turnover. She wraps her career having played in 40 games and ranks No. 4 all-time with her 16 career assists. She added 33 career points along the way with 17 goals.
