RSC Men's Basketball Collects 58-54 Road Win over Elmira

Elmira, NY — Russell Sage College's men's basketball team rebounded from their first setback with a 58-54 road win over Elmira College on Wednesday evening. RSC is now 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the Empire 8. With the loss, Elmira drops to 1-5 overall and in the league.

Tied at 31-31 at the break, the game was tied for the tenth and final time at the 11:34 mark as both teams had 43 points. RSC went on a 4-0 run as rookie guard Pierce Trop (Hollywood, FL/Chaminade Madonna) added a layup to break the tie and sophomore forward Nathan Mannion (Castleton-on-Hudson, NY/Maple Hill) made a pair of free throws at 9:42. The game was never tied down the stretch and the Gators led by as many as seven points (57-50 at 3:53) en route to the key road win.

Mannion finished with 12 points off the bench with two blocks and four rebounds.  Junior Amani Cummings (Brooklyn, NY/Transit Tech) added 13 points with five assists to pace the Gators after shooting 5-of-11 from the floor on the night.

Junior Jason Geronimo (Orlando, FL/Colonial) added 12 points with six rebounds and a block while junior Stuart Phair (Canberra, Australia) added eight rebounds with six points in the contest.

Sage is back in action on March 19 hosting Nazareth College in a 6 p.m. Empire 8 contest. Due to RSC and Empire 8 protocols, no fans are permitted to attend the game in person.
