Pittsford, NY—Russell Sage College's women's volleyball team travelled to St. John Fisher College on Sunday afternoon for a pair of matches with the Cardinals. SJFC posted a 3-0 win over the Gators in the first match on Sunday, 25-12, 25-14, 25-18) and a 3-0 win in the second contest (25-13, 25-7, 25-14) and earned Head Women's Volleyball Coach Greapentrog her 200th career win in the process. SJFC is now 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the Empire 8, while RSC drops to 0-3 overall and in the conference.
In the first match, junior Emma Parkington (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional) had a team-leading 6.5 points as she had six kills with six digs with a block assist. Junior middle hitter Celia Gagnon (Troy, NY/Ichabod Crane) added five kills with an ace for 6.0 points. Senior defensive specialist Kayla Weaver (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin Perth) connected for 7 digs, while junior setter Francessca Gigliotti (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional) had 12 setting assists with three digs and two kills. Rookie defensive specialist Rylie Gray (Bombay, NY/Salmon River Central) added an ace, while staying perfect with no reception errors on seven attempts.
In the second match, Parkington had three kills with one ace and three digs to go with her 4.0 points. Gagnon also finished with 4.0 points as she had a kill with three aces and three digs.
Rookie outside hitter Katherine Jepsen (Hudson, NY/Hudson) had six digs while Gray added five digs and an ace for the Gators. Weaver picked up four digs as well, while Gigliotti added six setting assists with four digs.
RSC is back in action for an Empire 8 double header as they host Elmira College in an Empire 8 matchup on March 27 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
