Women's lacrosse season comes to an end in E8 Tournament

Oneonta, NY —Russell Sage College's women's lacrosse team travelled to Hartwick College to play in the program's first-ever Empire 8 playoff game. Seeded fourth, Hartwick advanced to the semifinals with a 19-4 win over the No. 5 seeded Gators. Hartwick led 13-1 at the break and advances to the Empire 8 semifinals on April 29.
Hartwick is now 3-3, while RSC's season comes to an end at 3-6.

Sophomores Samantha Shafer (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) and Caroline Musinski (Pownal, VT/Mt. Anthony Union), graduate performer Brittany Gage (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush), and rookie Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) all scored one goal for the Gators in the contest. Gage finishes the season as the team's point leader with 22 on 12 goals with 10 assists, while Shafer added a personal-best 19 points on 14 goals with five assists. Musinski, the team's leading scorer from 2020, added 18 points on 13 goals with five assists.

Gage wraps her stellar career having left her mark on the program's record book. Gage is fourth in career points at Sage with 83 adding 55 goals and 28 assists. Her 55 goals ranks seventh in career goals, while her 28 assists was second. She set the program's career ground ball record (129), and caused turnovers record (72), while ranking second wither 134 career draw controls. Gage played in 55 games at RSC, which is No. 2 while her 51 career starts stands second as well.

Senior Sophia Keravich (Barrington, NH/Oyster River) wraps her time with the program having played in 41 games, which is eighth best as well. Senior Alex Franco (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) played in 40 games which also ranks ninth in program history having also scored 33 points on 17 goals with 16 assists. Her career assists stands fourth best as well for a Sage player.

In goal for the Gators, seniors Marina Azab (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) and Carly Plaisance (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) both played. Azab work 14:55 with two saves and nine goals allowed. Plaisance worked 45:05 with 10 saves and nine goals allowed.

After today's contest, Azab is now third in career saves with 208 in 36 games played with a 5.78 career saves per game average which stands fourth. Plaisance ranks fifth with 171 career saves and is also fifth with her 4.75 career saves per game average.
