Sage adds LeBihan to Athletic Training staff

Albany, NY — Russell Sage College has announced the addition of Gabrielle LeBihan (Brant Lake, NY/Queensbury) to the Athletic Training staff. A 2016 graduate of Nazareth College, LeBihan earned her Master of Science degree in 2020 in athletic training from Plymouth State University.

LeBihan noted, "I am looking forward to being part of the Russell Sage College community and to being part of the Gator staff!"

Director of Athletics Sandy Augstein-Collins noted, "I am thrilled to announce that Gab LeBihan will be joining our Athletic Training staff to assist our efforts for the Spring of 2021 competitive schedule." She added, "She brings excellent credentials with her Division III experience as a student-athlete and has experience as a Division III Athletic Trainer.  Gab has a passion for Division III athletics and will be an excellent addition to our Athletic Training team!"

A former runner in the Empire 8, LeBihan excelled in cross country and track and field in the distance events for the Golden Flyers and earned undergraduate degree in communications and media. Following her undergraduate work, she spent a year working in the athletic training department at East Stroudsburg University from 2017-2018.  She attended Plymouth State, where she earned her Master's degree in May of 2020 after extensive work with Panthers' Division III field hockey and ice hockey programs. She gained valued experience having completed on-field and clinical evaluations of varying urgency for acute and chronic conditions. LeBihan has experience collaborating with a Utilized a variety of clinical modalities to manage pain and aid the healing process in addition to modifying equipment and creating protective padding to facilitate a safe return to play after injury for student-athletes.

In addition, she has worked to create unique rehabilitation plans and instructed student-athletes on proper implementation, progressing from acute care and isolated strengthening through full functional return to play, while also developing health maintenance strategies to encourage holistic wellness, including nutrition, hydration and sleep recommendations for student-athletes.

During her collegiate athletic career at Nazareth College, she competed for three seasons on both the cross country and track squads, excelling in the distance events. Among some of her efforts in the outdoor season, she had top times of 5:00.27 in the 1,500 meter run, 20:11.80 in the 5,000-meter run and 11:28.63 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase… She repeated as Empire 8 Conference champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and was also part of Nazareth's school-record breaking 4 x 800-meter relay that captured NYSCTC title at St. Lawrence with a time of 9:18.97. In cross country, she enjoyed a strong cross country season in the fall and had a top 6-kilometer time of 22:32.7 to finish second individually at the NYSCTC meet at Hamilton to lead Nazareth to the team title. She was rewarded for her outstanding efforts with a citation as a member of the 2015 Empire 8 First Team after finishing in fifth-place finish at the E8 meet. She also posted an impressive performance the 2015 NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional having finished in 31st at Letchworth State Park with a time of 22:57.7 for 6 kilometers.

As a member of the track programs in 2014, she competed for the Golden Flyers during the 2014 indoor and outdoor track seasons and set school indoor records in the mile (5:21.39), the 3,000-meter run (10:17.71) and the 5,000-meter run (18:11.54) as well as outdoor marks in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:02.76) and the 5,000-meter run (17:56.19). She finished second in the mile and fourth in the 5,000 meters at the Empire 8 Conference Indoor meet, while also taking home sixth place in the 5,000-meters at the NYSCTC meet at St. Lawrence and eighth in the 3,000-meters at the ECAC Championship in Boston, Mass. During the outdoor season, LeBihan won the E8 title in the 3,000 steeplechase and was second in the 5,000 meters and also finished fourth in the 5,000 at the NYSCTC meet.

An Empire 8 First Team honoree in cross country in both 2014 and 2013, she set a Nazareth 6k school record with a time of 22:17.9 at the Geneseo Invitational at Letchworth State Park, good for 12th place.

Before Nazareth, she spent one year at Division I Colgate University. LeBihan competed for the Red Raiders in 2012-13 and finished 52nd at the Patriot League Championships for cross country and ran in the NCAA Northeast Regional race. A 2012 graduate of Queensbury High School, LeBihan competed in cross country, track and field and cross country skiing. She helped lead the ski team to state runner-up finish, as well as Section Two title. As a member of the  track and cross country teams, she also captured sectional crowns.
