Hilton, NY — Russell Sage College's women's volleyball player, senior defensive specialist Kayla Weaver (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin Perth) was named to the 2021 Empire 8 Women's Volleyball All-Conference Team on Tuesday. Weaver, team captain for the team this spring, was recognized as a member of the Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year Team.
One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2021 Women's Volleyball Sportswoman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.
Weaver played in 26 sets this spring adding a .891 serving percentage to go with her .834 reception percentage. She added 74 digs, which was second on the team. She averaged 4.07 digs per set as well for the Gators. She wraps her career with 273 career digs in 55 career matches played. She averaged 1.98 digs per set as well in 138 career sets played. She added 28 aces with a .869 career serving percentage.
