Rochester, NY—Russell Sage College's women's tennis team played a pair of Empire 8 matches on Saturday at Nazareth College. In the first match of the day, Sage defeated Hartwick College, 7-2. In the nightcap, the host Nazareth College Golden Flyers tallied a 9-0 win over the Gators. Sage is now 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the Empire 8.

Against Hartwick, Sage's junior Kaitlin Banks (Annapolis, MD/Mount Anthony Union) collected a win at No. 1 singles as she bested Jade Killikelly, 8-5. At No. 3 singles, senior Claire Connolly (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) tallied an 8-3 win over Cierra Barkley. Sophomore Chloe Gore (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) was a winner over Ella Bakula-Rusk, 8-1 at No. 4 singles.

The Gators also picked up an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles as Connolly and Gore were victorious over Barkley and Bakula-Rusk.

In the second match, Nazareth swept the match to remain unbeaten on the campaign as they are now 4-0.

Sage is back in action on March 20 for a pair of Empire 8 matches as they will play at Houghton College and also face St. John Fisher College at 2 and 5 p.m. next Saturday.
