Fitzgerald and Burnett Honored by Empire 8

RUSSELL SAGE COLLEGE WOMEN'S AND MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK PERFORMERS HONORED BY EMPIRE 8

Hilton, NY — The Russell Sage College men's and women's outdoor and field programs had a pair of student-athletes honored on Monday with the release of the 2021 Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field Awards. Sophomore Alyssa Fitzgerald (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) was named to the Empire 8 Women's Outdoor Track and Field Sportswoman Team and senior Arnoldo Burnett (Bronx, NY/John F. Kennedy) was named to the Empire 8 Men's Outdoor Track and Field Sportsman Team.

One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2021 Women's Outdoor Track & Field Sportswoman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.

Field Athlete of the Year: Kelsey Wands, So., Utica

Rookie of the Year: Ana Ion, Fr., Alfred

Coaching Staff of the Year: St. John Fisher, led by head coach Mike Henchen


Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year
Holly Passetti, Sr., Alfred

Mary Shaker, So., Houghton

Lea Richard, Fr., Nazareth

Alyssa Fitzgerald, So., Russell Sage

Alivia Collins, Jr., St. John Fisher

Elizabeth Darling, Sr., Utica
