Sage Women's Indoor Track Program Makes Strong Showing at First Meet; Gators take 4th at Nazareth Mini Invite

Rochester, NY — The Russell Sage College women's indoor track and field team travelled to Nazareth College for the program's first-ever meet. Competing at the Nazareth College Mini Invite in the Golisano Training Center, the Gators opened a new era as they took to the track in the program's first indoor competition. Head Coach David Taranto helped the women's team to an impressive fourth place showin.

For Sage's women's team, they posted a score of 48 points to take fourth in a field of six teams in their debut.

Rookie Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) opened her collegiate career in strong fashion as she was second in the mile run with her time of 5:44.05. Rookie Emma Cronin (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich Central) picked up fifth in 5:50.26, while sophomore Molly Kane (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) added a time of 6:03.32 to take seventh. Rounding out the Gator runners in the race, sophomore Evelyn Gile (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) picked up eighth in 6:19.25.

Sage's distance medley relay foursome of Cronin, rookie Skylar Grybos (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam), Kane, and Feeney picked up second place with their time of 14:20.58.

In the 200 meter run, junior Natalie Ricci (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) was fourth in 28.24, just ahead of sophomore Shakura Murray (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) who was fifth in 28.65. Sophomore Julia Gerringer (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) finished in 28.73 to take sixth place. Rounding out the Gator performers in the same race were freshman Victoria Johnson (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) who was 12th in 30.08 and Jasmine Zollman (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem Central) who was 16th in 31.13. Rookie Giuliana Capparello (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) added a time of 31.52 to take 18th and junior Shanice Dominick (New York, NY/Automotive) picked up 23rd in 38.25.

The Gators added a third place finish in the 4 x 400 relay with their time of 5:22.27 behind the efforts of junior Nicole Collazo (New York, NY/Repertory Company HS for the Theatre Arts), senior Sophia Keravich (Barrington, NH/Oyster River), junior Giannah French (Cherry Plain, NY/Berlin), and junior Kristin McAlonen (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake).  

In the 400 meter run, Grybos led Sage with her 8th place finish in 1:09.1, while Collazo was 11th in 1:11.41. In the 800 meter run, McAlonen led Sage with her time of 3:03.77 to take 13th, while Keravich was next in 3:10.01 to take 14th. In 15th was French in 3:20.58, while sophomore Morgan Feistehamel (Glenfield, NY/South Lewis) picked up 16th in 3:22.68.

In the weight throw, freshman Monalisa Carius (Hudson, NY/Hudson) picked up 10th with a toss of 10.22 meters, while rookie Fiona Mulligan (Pearl River, NY/Pearl River) was 16th with her mark of 6.43 meters.

In the triple jump, Johnson picked up 7th place with her performance of 9.70 meters. She added a mark of 4.02 in the long jump to take 11th place. Zollman took 12th in the long jump (3.93 meters), while Carius was also ninth in the shot put with her toss of 9.57 meters. Mulligan picked up 16th place in the shot with her throw of 7.21 meters.
