Ryder selected for All-Tournament Team at Cardinal Classic

Plattsburgh, NY—The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team wrapped play on Saturday afternoon taking on both Hartwick College and Colby-Sawyer College on the final day of the Plattsburgh State Cardinal Invitational. Sage faced Hartwick first, falling 3-0 to the Hawks (25-17, 26-24, 25-21). Against Colby-Sawyer, the Gators fell 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-19).

Sage's senior outside hitter Megan Ryder (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin Perth) earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team for her play this past weekend. The tri-captain added 52 digs in the four matches this weekend with double-digit dig performances in every match. Against Hartwick, she had 14 digs with four kills and a block assists.

Sophomore outside hitter Emma Parkington (Dalton, MA/Wahconah Regional) added 10 digs with four kills, a pair of block assists with an ace and was 20-2 in receiving attempts for a .909 receiving percentage against the Hawks.

Graduate performer Miranda Nethaway (Fonda, NY/Fonda Fultonville) added five kills with a pair of block assists, while rookie defensive specialist Elaina Moisidis (Albany, NY/Albany) was perfect with no receiving errors in six attempts and connected for six digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Kayla Weaver (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) had eight digs with a pair of aces in the contest.

Against Colby-Sawyer, Nethaway hit a red-hot .462 after adding six kills with 7.5 points and three block assists. Ryder was 18-2 in receiving attempts (.900%), while racking up 11 digs. Parkington added eight kills with five digs and 8.5 points for the Gators. Moisidis picked up six digs in the action for the match as well.

Sage is back in action next weekend travelling to New Hampshire to compete in the Granite State Challenge co-hosted by Plymouth State and Keene State on September 6 and 7.
