Albany, NY—Sage's field hockey team hosted the Cardinals of St. John Fisher College in an Empire 8 match-up on Friday night at UAlbany's Alumni Field. The Cardinals posted a 10-0 win over Sage to remain unbeaten in the Empire 8 at 4-0, while improving to 11-3 overall. Sage drops to 7-8 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
SJFC's senior midfielder Lindsay Scott (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) had nine points after adding a goal and team-high seven assists in the action. Junior forward Bre Socker (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) added four goals elevating her team-leading total to 22 this fall. She leads SJFC with 47 points, while Scott has a team-best 17 assists this fall.
Senior keeper Kelly Bergamo (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) earned the shutout win after making two saves in 45 minutes of work. She shared the win with junior keeper Lexi Kaplani (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster). Bergamo is now 11-3 on the year. Sage's sophomore goalkeeper Abigayle Greier (Elma, NY/Iroquois Central) made 17 saves in the contest in falling to 6-8 this season.
Sage will be back in action on October 23 hosting Hartwick College in a 7 p.m. Empire home match, while St. John Fisher College travels to Middlebury College for a non-conference match on October 19.
