Middletown, CT—Sage's men's basketball team faced the host Cardinals of Wesleyan University in the Herb Kenny Tournament Sponsored by Red Lion Hotel Cromwell on Friday night. Wesleyan opened the season with a 78-44 win over the Gators to spoil Sage's perfect season. Sage drops to 2-1 on the year.
Sophomore guard Jalon Borders (Bartow, FL/All Hallows) picked up 13 points for the night with four rebounds as the Gators high scorer. Senior captain Anthony Mitchell (Bronx, NY/Salesian) picked up 10 points with four rebounds in the game, while sophomore Deonte Sherwood (Orange Park, FL/Oakleaf) came off the bench and scored 11 points.
Sophomore forward Jason Geronimo (Orlando, FL/Colonial) picked up eight rebounds with two points in the game.
Sage is back in action on November 16 competing at the Wesleyan University Tip-Off Tournament in the consolation game at 1 p.m. against the loser of the other first round game between Clark University and Maine Presque Isle.
