SAGE MEN'S HOOP TEAM BEATS CASTLETON, 64-56
Castleton, VT- The Gators of Sage travelled to Vermont to take on Castleton in the first contest in 2020 and emerged with a 64-56 victory. The win puts Sage at 6-4 on the year, while the Spartans fall to 1-9. Sage held a 34-27 lead at the break and never looked back down the stretch.
Sage's sophomore Deonte Sherwood (Orange Park, FL/Oakleaf) had a team-leading 15 points off the bench and added four rebounds to his performance on Thursday afternoon. Senior Anthony Mitchell (Bronx, NY/Salesian) added 14 points with six rebounds, while handing out three assists with a steal.
Sophomore Jalon Borders (Bartow, FL/Bartow) had nine points with five assists, while sophomore Jason Geronimo (Orlando, FL/Colonial) pulled down seven rebounds.
After Thursday's game, Mitchell is closing in on his 500th career point as he now boasts 494 career points and is the program's 13th all-time leading scorer. He is also seventh in career rebounding with 313 rebounds.
Sage is back in action on January 4 travelling to SUNY-Cobleskill for a non-conference game at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
