Sage women rebound with 60-42 win at Elmira

Elmira, NY–Sage's women's basketball team collected a convincing Empire 8 road win on Tuesday night as they beat Elmira College, 60-42. With the win, Sage is now 10-8 overall and 6-2 in the league. Elmira falls to 4-15 overall and 2-6 in the conference.

The two teams were tied at 19-19 at the end of the first quarter before Sage turned their play up and held a 35-26 lead the half. The Gators held Elmira to just six third quarter points and finished the night with a key league victory.

Graduate player and forward Megan Flynn (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) added a double-double with 12 points and 20 rebounds for her 14th career double-double. She leads the team with seven double-doubles this year. She shot 6-10 from the floor with two assists and a block. She added two assists with a blocked shots and a steal in the contest.

Also adding a double-double for Sage was another graduate performer Kaitlyn Bowman (Chateaugay, NY/Saranac). Bowman led Sage with her 15 points and hauled in 13 rebounds with four assists, two blocks, and a steal after shooting 7-10 from the floor.

Sophomore forward Kyra Oeffler (Green Island, NY/Heatly) had a season-best 10 points with five rebounds as well in the contest.

Sage hosts Hartwick College on February 1 at 4 p.m. in Kahl Gym in an Empire 8 match-up.
