Cobleskill, NY—The Sage Colleges' men's golf team opened the 2019 season on Friday competing at Cobleskill Country Club at the SUNY-Cobleskill Jug Invitational. Sage's junior Blake Pritchard (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy) finished as the medalist after posting a score of 73 at the tournament. He carded a 36 on the front nine and a 37 on the back nine to take home the title and lead Sage to a third place showing in a field of five complete teams. Elmira won the team crown with a 323 followed by Keuka's 334. Sage carded a 345, while fourth went to Morrisville with a 350 and Johnson University was next with a 360 for the day.
Rookie Connor Affinito (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury Union Free School) shot an 89, while sophomore golfer Stuart Phair (Canberra, Australia/Trinity Christin School) posted 91 in his golf team debut. Senior Tyler Schnaible (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) shot a 92 and senior Jared Almy (Howes Cave, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) finished with a 93 on the day. Sophomore Aidan O'Neil (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie) posted a 112 for the round to help the Gators on the day.
Sage returns to action on September 24 travelling to the Elmira College Invitational.
