Pittsford, NY — Ranked No. 12 in the latest IWLCA Division III Women's Lacrosse poll, St. John Fisher College racked up a 24-1 home win on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 16-1 overall and went unbeaten in the league with a perfect 8-0 record. With the win, they secured the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament. Sage wraps the season with a record of 2-13 and 1-7 mark in E8 play.
Mallory Eymer and Sydney DeGirola each scored three times with an assist to lead the Cardinals as they held an 18-0 advantage at the half.
Junior midfielder Brittany Gage (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) scored for the Gators in the contest on a pass from junior Anne Risler (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Names). She added a ground ball, while rookie Alexandra Lettre (Kingston, NY/Kingston) added a team-best six ground ball pickups with two caused turnovers.
Sophomore Marina Azab (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) made five saves in 30 minutes of work, while sophomore Carly Plaisance (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) stopped one shot in 30 minutes of service. SJFC's Morgan Hayes worked 60 minutes for the Cardinals in earning the win.
Sage's Anne Risler finished the season as the Gator high scorer with 35 points on 32 goals with three assists. Gage was next in scoring with 28 points on 20 goals and was the co-assist leader with sophomore Alex Franco (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston) as the pair both added eight assists.
Risler ranks in a tie for the fifth spot on Sage's career points list with 69 points, while also standing fifth in career goals with 59. Gage is eighth with her 57 career points and also 10th in goals with 39, while standing third in career assists with 18. Gage moved into the No. 2 spot in career ground balls with 105, while also standing second in career draw controls with 118 and third in caused turnovers with 58. Lettre is seventh on the career ground ball list after collecting a team-best 66 on the 2019 season.
