Pittsford, NY— The Sage College men's volleyball team travelled to St. John Fisher College for a United Volleyball Conference match with the Cardinals. SJFC posted the 3-0 win (25-17, 25-14, 25-12) to improve to 18-9 overall and 6-2 in the UVC. Sage drops to 8-14 overall and 1-7 in the league.
Junior Scott Sanders (Los Angeles, CA/Taft) connected for five kills with 6.0 points after adding a .333 attack percentage. Senior co-captain Zackery Karl (West Monroe, NY/Central Square) racked up 4 kills with 3 digs, while junior outside hitter Shane Wenz (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) added 3 kills with one ace and a pair of digs. He had 4.0 points for the Gators.
Sophomore co-captain Mike Basile (Feeding Hills, MA/Agawam) had 2 kills with 3 digs and had an .895 receiving percentage with only 2 receiving errors on 17 attempts.
Sophomore setter Ryan Jennings (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Township) racked up 13 setting assists with 7 digs.
Sage returns to action on March 30 competing at Elmira with Wells College. The 1 p.m. match-up with Elmira is an Empire 8 and United Volleyball Conference match, while the 3 p.m. match-up with Wells is a non-conference match.
