SAGE-ELMIRA MEN'S SOCCER ACTION WASHED OUT
Elmira, NY—The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team travelled to Elmira College for an Empire 8 match on Saturday. The match was underway, before it was suspended by the officials just 29:57 into the action. The Empire 8 men's soccer match will not be finished or completed as it does not affect the 2018 Empire 8 men's tournament field.
For Sage, the season comes to a conclusion after a 4-10-1 season with a record of 2-3-1 in the Empire 8.
Saturday's action closes the careers of Sage's men's soccer program's most decorated players. Among the Gator seniors are forward River Seybolt (Selden, NY/Longwood), goalie Michael Chiaravalloti (Torrington, CT/Oliver Wolcott), midfielder James Lagunas (Passaic, NJ/Passaic County Technical Institute), midfielder Kevin Contreras Sanchez (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington), defender Ryan Fairweather (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley), midfielder James Fitzpatrick (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville), midfielder Liam Hayes (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) and graduate student Anthony Williamson (Beacon, NY/Beacon).
Seybolt established the Gator scoring mark with his 102 points with a school-record 45 goals. He set the mark for most career game-winning goals with 16, while never missing a penalty kick after going 8-8 at Sage. Chiaravalloti finished his career with 194 saves and 17 wins, both of which are second best on the career list. He posted a 1.22 goals against average and was second in career shutouts with 8.4 and played in 3,475 minutes, also second best at Sage.
