Indianapolis, IN- The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team is among the national and conference leaders with the release of the latest NCAA Division III men's volleyball statistics. Sage, which is 2-3 on the year is competing this season as a member of the United Volleyball Conference. Sage is back in action on January 31 for a 7 p.m. road match at Elms College.
In the latest release of the team statistics, Sage is nine different team categories. The Gators are 12th and 13th respectively in team kills per set average (12.14) and aces per set average (2.0). Sage is also ranked 17th in assists per set average (11.0) and 28th in both team attacks per set average (28.21) and digs per set average (10.07).
Individually, seven different players appear in the rankings of the 200 ranked Division III performers. Sage's senior outside Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) ranks ninth nationally and leads the UVC with his 0.786 aces per set average. He is also ranked in attacks per set average (No. 51, 7.5), digs per set (No. 84, 2.07), hitting percentage (No. 161, .171%), kills per set average (No. 39, 3.07) and No. 32 in points per set average with 3.93.
Now in his fourth season with Sage, Guyton is the career ace leader with 165 aces. He is closing in on the Sage career point mark as he brings 1,135.5 points into the week and is closing in on the record of 1,212.5 points set by Dylan Krowicki (2012-2014). He is also third in career kills with 890.
Senior outside hitter Bailey Cecchi (Agawam, MA/Agawam) is also ranked in five categories in the latest week's stats. He is 43rd nationally in attacks per set average (7.71), which is second in the UVC. He is also 29th in kills per set average (3.29) and ranked 57th in aces per set average (0.429). After last weekend's matches, Cecchi has racked up 911 career kills, which ranks second all-time at Sage. He has 1,069.5 points and ranks fourth at Sage.
Senior libero Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) checks in 18th nationally in digs per set average (3.08) and is currently third in the UVC. He is second at Sage in career setting assists and digs with 1,366 setting assists and 667 digs.
Rookie setter Ryan Jennings (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) is nationally ranked in both assists per set average (No. 65, 5.46 per set) and 166th in aces per set average (0.231).
Junior opposite Austin Laverty (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) is also ranked in assists per set averages (No. 71, 5.14), while junior outside hitter Zackery Karl (West Monroe, NY/Central Square) is ranked in aces per set average (No. 121, 0.308) and hitting percentage (No. 93, 0.240). Sophomore middle hitter Scott Sanders (Los Angeles, CA/Taft) is ranked in five categories. He is ranked in the Top 200 in blocks per set averages (0.455), attacks per set average (4.91), points per set (2.68), while leading the Sage squad with year with his .315 attack percentage and is 11th in the UVC and 47th nationally.
