Albany, NY – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) honored 598 student-athletes from 179 different institutions on the 2018 IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. Sage's senior women's lacrosse player, Ellen Abbott (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) was named to the team after achieving an impressive 3.661 grade point average as a nursing major at The Sage Colleges.
Additionally, Sage's women's lacrosse team was also honored for their combined academic prowess, as they garnered a spot on the 2018 IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad. FOR The IWLCA has named 339 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA as IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squads for the 2017-18 academic year. To qualify for this prestigious honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year.

Ellen Abbott SR Nursing
A nursing major at Sage, Abbott was also named to the 2018 Empire 8 Presidents' List for her academic prowess, while also earning acclaim as a member of Sage's Athletic Honor Society and was named to the 2018 Sage Athletic Academic Honor Roll. A Dean's List student at Sage, she earned multiple selections throughout her stellar career. On the playing field, she led the 2018 team with her 40 ground ball pickups and capped her career this season with six goals and five assists. Over the course of her time in a Gator uniform, she played in 32 games while scoring 36 points on 27 goals with nine assists. She ranked 12th all-time in career points, while standing nine in career assists (9), fourth in career ground ball pickups (84) and eighth with her 35 career caused turnovers.
As a junior member of the 2017 squad, she helped the women's lacrosse team earn the program's first post-season appearance after a record-setting season with four conference wins and seven overall victories.
