Jessica Adams Named Skyline Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year

SAGE'S JESSICA ADAMS TAPPED AS SKYLINE SOFTBALL SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

New York, NY- The Sage Colleges' senior softball player, Jessica Adams (Nassau, NY/Columbia) has added another impressive accomplishment to her resume as she has been named the 2017 Skyline Conference Softball Scholar-Athlete Player of the Year. A Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is presented to the first-team All-Conference performer who carries the highest grade point average (minimum 3.30) for the semester in which the student-athlete competes. In the sports of basketball and swimming, the highest cumulative grade point average (minimum 3.30) for both the fall and spring semesters of 2016-17 was used.

She capped her 2017 season having also earned acclaim as the Sage Gator of the Year as the Most Outstanding Player on the team.

Adams is a three-time Skyline All-Conference All-Star having earned a spot on the 2017 All-Star First Team. The senior collected 46 hits, 28 RBI's, 24 runs, 13 doubles, ten stolen bases, three home runs and one triple with a .362 batting average and a .551 slugging percentage. Consistently one of the strongest fielders in the conference, the captain finished the season with a .950 fielding percentage. Adams finished third in the Skyline in doubles/game with 0.33. The captain finished her career ranked 2nd in doubles (42), 3rd in RBI's (94), 4th in hits (165), 4th in stolen bases (31), 5th in runs (94) and 9th in home runs (ten).

A captain her senior year, Adams led Sage to its first regular-season Skyline Conference regular-season title during her freshman season and helped the Gators make four Skyline Conference Tournament appearances and pair of ECAC Division III Metro Tournament showings. The shortstop was an excellent student having been on the Dean's List, the Skyline Scholar-Athlete Team and the Sage Scholar-Athlete Team. Adams graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in sociology.
