Mike Chiaravalloti saluted as Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week

Rochester, NY- The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team was honored on Monday with the release of the empire 8 Players of the Week for the second week of the season as the Gators' junior keeper Michael Chiaravalloti's (Torrington, CT/Oliver Wolcott) was named the Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. He becomes the first male student-athlete honored by the new conference.

On the week, Sage and Chiaravalotti went 2-0 as they collected a 3-1 win over previously unbeaten SUNY-Potsdam and less than 24 hours later, beat Clarkson University, 1-0. Now 2-2 on the year, Sage's junior goalie had 23 saves on the week with only one goal allowed in the two contests, good enough for a 0.50 GAA.

On the season, he has played every game for the Gators and sports a 1.73 GAA on the year with an .821 saves percentage. On his career in goal for the Gators, he is now 4-3-2 in 11 appearances with 3.2 shutouts and 36 career saves.

Next up for the Gators, they will travel to Nazareth College on September 16 for the first Empire 8 match-up next Saturday at 3 p.m.
