Rimawi and Hart star as Gators split with Skidmore

Saratoga Springs, NY – Sage's softball team travelled to Skidmore College for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday. Skidmore took game one, 9-4 and the Gators took the nightcap, 7-4. Sage is now 5-7 overall, while Skidmore stands at 12-10 on the season.

Sage's graduate player Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) had a banner day as she was batted .750 in the twinbill with an 6-8 effort with two doubles, a home run and five RBI's. Rimawi surpassed the 100 career RBI mark in the second game and is now one of three Sage players with 100 or more RBIs. She is now third all-time with 102 RBI's and stands fifth in career runs scored with 94, while also ranking fourth with her 14 career home runs.

Game # 1  Skidmore 9-2 Sage

Skidmore collected the 9-2 win in the first game as Amanda Carilli threw a complete game allowing just two unearned runs off eight hits while strikeout out a pair. She stands at 9-4 on the year.

Sage's hitters collected three doubles as sophomore Amanda Kiriakos (Yonkers, NY/Saunders Trade & Technical), graduate player Katy Rimawi (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) and rookie Emily Agate (Franklin Square, NH/H. Frank Carey) all doubled. Rimawi added an RBI and was 2-4 in the action, while sophomore Mikayla Culnan (West Sand Lake, NY/Emma Willard School) was 2-4 with a run scored.

From the circle, rookie Katerina Lagace (Newington, CT/Newington) suffered the loss after she allowed six earned runs off eight hits with six strikeouts and seven walks. She drops to 2-2.

Game # 2 Sage 7-4 Skidmore

Rimawi had a banner game in the nightcap as she was 4-4 at the plate with a double, a home run and four RBIs, while also adding a stolen base. After trailing 2-0 through two innings, Rimawi added a three RBI home run in the top of the third to give Sage a 3-2 lead and the Gators never trailed after that in the game.

Senior pitcher Amy Hart (St. Johnsville, NY/Little Falls) collected a complete game win to earn the win after striking out nine in the game. She allowed three earned runs off four hits with five walks and is now 2-5 on the year. Hart is making her climb in the Gator record book as well as she now has 25 complete games, which ranks ninth all-time on the career list and has now fanned 191 batters. Her 191 strikeouts is fourth, while her 195.0 innings of work is 13th best.

The Gators will be in action next on April 12 at SUNY-Cobleskill for a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday a 3:30 p.m. start.
