Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges has selected Kevin Cain (Clifton Park, NY) as the next men's golf coach. Cain replaces Robert Verhayden who stepped down as golf coach to concentrate on his new roles as full-time head women's and men's volleyball coach at Sage.

A graduate of Wingate University, Cain was a four-year letterwinner for the Bulldogs, he arrives at Sage this summer and is the current assistant golf professional at Colonie Golf and Country Club. He has held that position since 2011 and has worked previously at Richter Park Golf Club (Danbury, CT), Hiland Golf Club (Queensbury, NY), and Eagle Crest Golf Club (Clifton Park, NY).

"I am excited for the opportunity to coach The Sage Colleges' men's golf team," noted Cain. He added, "I look forward to building on the improvements the team has made; as well as leading the program into the future."

Tapped as the 2015 NENYPGA Assistant Golf Professional of the Year, Cain brings a wealth of experience to the program and is currently the president of the NENYPGA Assistant Association. During his career he has accomplished a number of NENY sectional tournament victories and qualified for the 2012 Professional National Championship in 2012 in Monterey, CA. A Top 10 player of the Year honoree in 2011, he was also listed among the Assistant Player of the Year honorees, while also boasting a Vardon Stroke average. In 2014 he finished in fourth place, garnering Player of the Year honors, while also garnering the Vardon Stroke Average.

"We are delighted to have Kevin Cain joining us as our new coach of the men's golf program at Sage," added Director of Athletics, Sandy Augstein-Collins. She continued, "He brings a great deal of knowledge of the game, a competitive spirit, and wonderful ideas for improving our program.  I can't wait to see our program flourish under Kevin's leadership."
