Sanders saluted by UVC and Empire 8 with multiple awards

Rochester, NY-  The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team garnered numerous awards on Monday from the Empire 8 and the United Volleyball Conference as the Gators' sophomore middle hitter Scott Sanders (Los Angeles, CA/Now from Niskayuna, NY/Taft) was tapped as the Rookie of the Week by both the Empire 8 and the UVC, marking his fourth citation on the season he has earned rookie acclaim. Sanders was also honored as the Empire 8 Men's Volleyball Player of the Week.

Sage hosted the No. 2 ranked Ducks from Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday in a UVC cross over weekend and then faced No.10 ranked New York University on Sunday.

On the week, Sanders finished with 17 kills and a .577 attack percentage with two solo blocks and 19.0 points. He added 2.43 kills per set on the week as well. Against the No. 2 ranked Ducks, he hit .533 and against the NYU Bobcats, he hit .636. Overall, Sanders has 148 kills with an impressive .460 attack percentage with a team-best 51 total blocks and is third with his 185.0 points. Sanders leads the Gators with his 11 solo blocks and is tied for the most block assists with 40. He has played in 67 sets this season in his first year with Sage.

Sage, which is 8-13 on the year and 2-5 in the UVC, will be back in action on March 24 and 25 travelling to Vassar College for another UVC cross over weekend. On Saturday, Sage will face MIT at 6:30 p.m. and on March 25 face Vassar at 2:30 p.m.
