Gators post 82-78 road win over SUNY-Polytechnic in OT

Marcy, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team traveled to SUNY-Polytechnic on Sunday afternoon for a non-conference match-up with the Wildcats. Sage needed overtime, but collected their third straight win, besting the Wildcats, 82-78. With the win, Sage is now 3-1, while SUNY-Polytechnic is now 2-2.

Sage held a 30-26 lead at the break, but a strong second half by the Wildcats forced overtime as the two teams were knotted at 63-63 at the end of regulation. Good free throw shooting by Sage helped the Gators overcome the Wildcats as the game was tied at 76-76 with 0:48 left to play in the ninth tie of the game. Junior guard Macie Holmes (Amsterdam, NY/Mekeel Christian Academy) was fouled while attempting a three-point basket and proceeded to hit all three free throws, giving Sage a 79-76 lead. SUNY-Polytechnic's Kiersten Leos went to the line with 0:19 left and made her two free throws cutting Sage's lead to one point, 79-78.  SUNY-Polytechnic fouled junior guard Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) to stop the clock with 0:17 left and Parlsow made two of two free throw attempts giving Sage an 81-78 lead. Down the stretch the Wildcats had a missed attempt and junior Kaitlyn Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac) collected the rebound only to be fouled in the remaining few seconds. Bowman made one of two free throws and sealed Sage's bid before time expired.

Sage's senior forward Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) collected her second double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. She added three assists with one steal and hit 9-of-10 free throws in the contest. She has 1,089 career and vaulted into the No. 3 spot in career scoring ahead of Megan Bowman (1,080) and Frankie Pearson (1,081). Schoff is third in career rebounds with 694 boards.

Sophomore forward Megan Flynn (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) added a personal-best 18 points in the game, bettering last year's 12 point showing. She added six rebounds, while Holmes netted 16 points for the Gators. Parlsow picked up 10 points with five assists, while rookie Madasyn Bush (Pottersville, NY/North Warren Central) hauled in six points with seven rebounds.

Schoff is Sage's all-time free throw leader as well, having now made 332 of 443 free throw attempts and is also climbing the Gator career block mark with 98, which is second all-time. Bowman eclipsed the 500 career point plateau on Sunday and now has 503 career points, while Parslow and Holmes continue their run for the three-point record. After Sunday, Parslow has 107 career three-pointers and Holmes has 90 for the No. 3 and No. 8 spots on the list.

SUNY-Polytechnic's Kiersten Leos led all performers with her 28 points after hitting a blistering 10-16 from the floor. She also made 5-of-8 from three-point range.

Sage returns to action on December 2 visiting DeSales University in a 2 p.m. non-conference match-up.
