Parslow and Schoff add 18 points each as Gators top Elmira, 63-54

Pine Valley, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team picked up a 63-54 victory over Elmira College on Saturday afternoon to help the Gators to another key league victory. Sage is now 14-6 overall and 8-3 in the empire 8, while Elmira drops to 11-8 overall and 3-7 in the conference.

Sage led 31-26 at the break and racked up the win as the duo of junior guard Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) and senior forward Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) both added 18 points apiece. Schoff added 10 rebounds to go with her 8-16 performance from the floor with a block and an assist, while Parslow added four three-pointers with two assists and a steal for the Gators. Sage combined for 47 rebounds, dominating on the boards as Elmira was held to just 32 rebounds.

Junior guard Kaitlyn Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac) led the team on the boards as she hauled in 14 rebounds and finished with two points and seven assists. Sophomore Megan Flynn (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) contributed eight points and six rebounds for Sage.

Elmira had four players finish in double-digit scoring as Rachel Vespucci added 15 points with eight rebounds. Emily Green added 13 points, while both Lindsey Heaton and Danielle Cleary added 11 points each.

Schoff, last week's Empire 8 Women's Basketball Player of the Week, added her 70th career game of scoring in double-digits as well as 30 career double-doubles.  She continues to add to her career resume that included 1,346 points (No. 2) with 841 rebounds (No. 2) and has now played in 102 career games at Sage. She is now No. 2 in career games played and is also second in career blocks with 122.  She is 67 points away from becoming Sage's all-time leading scorer and 150 rebounds off the all-time rebounding record as well.

Parlsow moved into the No. 9 spot in career scoring on Saturday, jumping past Wendy Kuhn (866, 1988-1992) as she has 872 points. She is also edging closer to the all-time three-point record as she is second with 155 behind the 200 three-pointers by Frankie Pearson (2013-2017), while also standing ranking fifth in career assists with 268.

Sage returns to action on Tuesday, February 6 hosting Utica College in an 8 p.m. Empire 8 contest at Kahl Gym.
