Women's soccer bests Wells, 7-0 as Trimblett adds 3 points in win

Albany, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's soccer team hosted the Express of Wells College on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match-up. Both teams entered the match with a 1-0 record and the Gators posted the convincing 7-0 win to remain perfect on the young season.

Sage's junior Samantha Trimblett (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) added two goal and an assist, elevating her team-leading season total to 11 points on four goals and three assists. Trimblett now has 31 goals, 20 assists and 82 career points. After Sunday's contest, she is now tied for fourth in career goals with Michaela McBride (2001-2003), while ranking No. 2 in career assists, tied with Cassidy Bruen (20, 2014-2016). She is fourth all- time in points, just five shy of moving into the No. 3 spot currently held by Nicole Maher (86 points, 2012-2015).

After Sage held a 2-0 lead on back to back Trimblett goals, rookie Samantha Schmidt (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) collected her first career score. Junior midfielder Dominque Puglisi (Schenectady, NY/Scotia Glenville) was awarded a penalty kick after a hand ball in the box. She made the score at 40:46 to give Sage a 4-0 lead at the half.

Junior Ariannah Logan (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie) and sophomore Kristen Silk (Freehold, NY/Greenville) added two goals in the second half, before an own goal gave Sage the 7-0 lead.

In goal for the Gators, junior Emma Augustine (Wawarsing, NY/Ellenville) made the start and played 45 minutes with no goals allowed. Rookie Lauren Paravella (Troy, NY/Troy) worked the second half for the Gators to share in the shutout win.

Wells' senior goalie Quinn Doubet (Cortland, NY/Cortland) made the start, but yielded three goals in her time in net. Sophomore Karlie Maloney (Belleville, NY/Belleville Henderson) worked 62 plus minutes with four goals allowed and five saves.

Next up for the Gators, they will host Bard College on September 6 at 7 p.m. at ACP's Athletic Complex.
