Sage Women's Basketball Squad leads nation in Three-Point Field Goal Defense! Gators among national leaders after another championship season

SAGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM AND PLAYERS AMONG NATIONAL STATS LEADERS FOR 2016-2107 SEASON

Indianapolis, IN-- The Sage women's basketball team wrapped their 2016-2017 season with a long list of accomplishments after capturing the 2017 Skyline Conference Championship and earning a spot in the 2017 NCAA Division III Tournament. Sage wrapped their year with a 20-9 mark and ranked nationally in 34 different statistical categories for the year, including finishing the season as the National Statistical Champion in team three-point field goal defense, allowing only 21.5 per game on the season.

The Gators ranked in the Top 100 in 15 different categories as well this past season in Division III, including a No. 33 ranking in three-point field goals made (197), a No. 35 ranking in scoring defense (53.5 ppg), as well as a No. 38 standing in three-point field goals attempted (617). The Gators were also 41st with 1,230 rebounds on the season, while averaging 42.41 rpg on the season.

Individually, four different players were among the NCAA Division III leaders, while two members were among the Top 100 performers on the season. Among the nationally ranked players were junior forward Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls), senior guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central), and sophomore guards Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) and Macie Holmes (Amsterdam, NY/Meekeel Christian Academy).

Schoff wrapped her 2016-2017 season having earned Skyline Conference All-Star First Team honors to go with her 1,031 career points, which puts her fifth on the all-time scoring list heading into her final season next year. Already No. 2 on the Gator career blocked shots list, she has 96 blocks, while adding 663 rebounds which is third all-time at Sage. She was ranked in 10 different categories including five in the Top 100. She was 25th nationally in Division III with her 4.0 offensive rebounds per game average, while also standing 63 in rebounding with her 268 boards.

Pearson wrapped her stellar career in a Sage uniform having played in a program-best 108 games with the Sage career record for most three-point baskets made with 200. She also ranks No. 3 all-time in scoring with 1,081 points. She also finishes with 191 assists (No. 9), 167 steals (No. 7) and 446 rebounds (No. 8). On the season, she was ranked four categories, with a No. 39 standing with her 195 three point baskets attempted and a No. 53 ranking with her 65 made three's. She was also 97th nationally with her 2.24 three-pointers per game average.

Parlsow added stats rankings in four areas to close her sophomore season after adding 302 points with an 11.6 ppg average on 50 made three-point field goals. She added 94 assists to lead the team as well having missed the first month of the season.

Holmes, who was a 29 game starter with a 5.6 ppg average, led the team with her 904 minutes played on the season and finished the trek with a No. 116 ranking in total minutes played for the season.

Sage's women's basketball team has nowwon 15 or more games in each of the last four seasons, including a program best 21 wins last season. Only in her third season at Sage, head coach Allison Coleman owns an impressive 59-23 record at the helm of the Gator team, having brought Sage to the NCAA tournament in just her third season as a head coach.
