Frankie Pearson Joins 1000 Point Club; Gators Top Bears, 74-53

Albany, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's basketball team hosted the Bears of St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn on Tuesday night in a Skyline Conference contest, marking the final home game of the regular-season for the Gators.  The Gators collected a 74-53 victory to improve to 16-8 overall and 12-5 in the league, while SJC-Brooklyn drops to 8-15 overall and 6-10 in the Skyline.

Among the biggest highlights of the evening, Sage's senior guard Frankie Pearson (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) became the fifth player in the women's basketball history as she scored her 1,000th career point. She finished with 11 points in the contest and now has 1,000 career points. She already holds two Sage career records with the most games played at 103 and the most career three-point baskets made with 180.

Sage had three other players finish in double-digit scoring as junior forward Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) and sophomores guard Kaitlyn Bowman (Dannemora, NY/Saranac) and Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) all scored in double-digits. Schoff added a team-high 15 points with seven rebounds, while Parslow added 14 points. Bowman connected for 11 points with six boards for the Gators.

Schoff is the next Sage player making her run at 1,000 career points as she is now sixth in career scoring with 982 points. She also boasts 632 career rebounds and is the fourth on the list just two away from moving into the No. 3 spot currently held by Susanne Booth (633, 1994-1998)

Sage is back in action on February 18 travelling to Purchase College for a noon league contest.  Sage has already secured a spot in the upcoming Skyline Conference Tournament and seeds and pairings will be announced on Saturday evening following the completion of the regular-season contests. The first round of the six-team tournament opens on Tuesday, February 21 with a pair of first round contests, while the semifinals will take place on Thursday, February 23 as the No. 1 and No. 2 seeded teams will host the winners of the first round contests. The championship game is slated for Saturday, February 25 at the home court of the highest remaining seeded team after the semifinals. The Skyline Conference champion will garner an automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division III championship.
