Oswego, NY–The Sage Colleges' women's volleyball team opened the new campaign on Friday night in action at the Oswego State Invitational. Sage triumphed, 3-2 (25-18, 23-25, 20-25, 25-21, 15-5) to improve to 1-0 on the young season, while Anna Maria drops to 0-1.
Sage returns to action on Saturday the Lakers of Oswego State and the College of New Rochelle.
Leading of the Gators on Friday was senior setter Rachel Liebig (Hartford, NY/Hartford) as she had 45 setting assists with three digs and a pair of digs.
Senior outside hitter Sara Campolieta (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) led the team with 19 digs and five kills, while junior defensive specialist Missy Schneiderman (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) connected for 18 digs.
Junior middle hitter Alyssa Nellis (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) racked up 10 kills, while senior outside hitter Michayla Berard (Binghamton, NY/Susquehanna Valley) picked up 10 kills.
Rookie defensive specialist Nicole Groll (Southington, CT/Southington) picked up 10 digs in her collegiate debut
