New York, NY--Sage's rookie women's tennis player Sammantha Montague (Glenville, NY/Scotia-Glenville) earned her first career selection as the Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week on Monday.
In helping the team to their third straight shutout win, Montague went undefeated in No. 1 singles and doubles action during a 2-0 week (1-0 Skyline) for the Gators…won 7-5, 6-0 at the top flight against Skyline foe St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on Saturday, after outlasting the Bears' top doubles squad, 8-6…one day later against Green Mountain, did not lose a game in her No. 1 singles match, and captured an 8-4 triumph at No. 1 doubles.
Sage is in action twice this week at home as they host the Trailblazers of MCLA on September 22 at 4 p.m. at Prospect Park. The week closes with Farmingdale State traveling to face the Gators on Saturday, also at Prospect Park at 1 p.m.
