ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Russell Sage College lost Friday night’s Empire 8 Conference matchup 75-56 at Nazareth.
The Gators, which entered the weekend as winners of six of their past seven, were led on the offensive end by senior guard Malena Gereau (Schroon Lake, NY/Schroon Lake Central) and junior guard Layla Acosta (Haines City, FL/Haines City), announced as the E8 Player of the Week on Monday, who scored 15 and 14 points respectively. Gereau added 8 rebounds in the effort.
Sophomore forward Kallie Hopkins (Millsboro, DE/Poly Tech) registered a near double-double of eight points and twelve rebounds.
Nazareth (17-6/11-3 E8) got off to a hot start, holding a 23-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Golden Flyers were led by Madalyn Kelly, who topped all scorers with 33 points.
Looking ahead, RSC (9-14/7-7 E8) plays next tomorrow at Saint John Fisher.
