ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College Women's Basketball guard Layla Acosta (Haines City, FL/Haines City) was announced as an Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 9.
The junior averaged 20.3 points on 45.8 percent shooting to help RSC clinch a spot in the E8 Championship Tournament and go 3-0 this week. She made 38.1 percent of her three-point attempts and totaled 15 rebounds, six steals, and five assists across the three games.
Acosta begins the week leading the Conference in free throw percentage and sits tenth in the E8 in scoring at 12.5 points per-game.
The Gators (9-13/7-6 E8), winners of six of their past seven, play next on Friday at Nazareth.
