MARCY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College dropped this evening's Empire 8 Conference contest at SUNY Poly 60-43.
Senior guard Malena Gereau (Schroon Lake, NY/Schroon Lake Central) topped RSC in scoring with 12 points. The co-captain, who leads the Gators in scoring at 11.0 points-per-game, paced the RSC offense for the fourth time in the past six contests.
Sophomore forward Kallie Hopkins (Millsboro, DE/Poly Tech) contributed 10 points and eight rebounds, while junior guard Layla Acosta (Haines City, FL/Haines City) added seven points, eight boards, and five assists.
The Gators started the road conference action well, getting out to a 9-3 lead midway through the opening period. The RSC shots began not to fall however, as the Wildcats, which curtailed a 10-game losing streak, netted 46 out of the next 67 points. The cold stretch put the visiting Gators down 19 early in the fourth quarter, part of being down by double-digits for the final 13:16.
Sophomore guard Alysa Jackson led SUNY Poly (2-13/1-6 E8) with 15 points and five assists.
RSC (3-12/2-5 E8) hosts Utica tomorrow at 2:00 PM.
