Sage softball posts split with Union on Tuesday
Schenectady, NY – Russell Sage College split this afternoon's doubleheader at Union College. After falling in the opener 7-2, the Gators (7-13) salvaged the split with a convincing 11-1 victory in the second game. Union moves to 10-6 on the year.

Schenectady, NY – Russell Sage College split this afternoon's doubleheader at Union College. After falling in the opener 7-2, the Gators (7-13) salvaged the split with a convincing 11-1 victory in the second game. Union moves to 10-6 on the year.
Infielder Emily Agate (Franklin Square, NY/H. Frank Carey), a grad student, was 2-for-3 at the plate in the first game while junior infielder Katelyn Rice (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) and sophomore catcher/infielder Amelia Wasilko (Poughkeepsie, NY/Roy C. Ketcham) each doubled as the Gators combined for eight hits.
Senior left hander/infielder Taylor Dicranian (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) took the loss in the first game as she allowed four earned runs off 10 Union hits. She drops to 5-2 on the year.
In the nightcap, the Gator bats exploded for a game-high 16 hits in the game. Senior outfielder Arianna Papas (Castleton, NY/Maple Hill) was red-hot as she was 4-4 with three doubles and a pair of RBI's. Dicranian was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI. Agate drove in a pair of run and was 2-for-4, while junior catcher/infielder Erika Markowski (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) was 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.
Junior right-hander Makayla Lindsey (New Fairfield, CT/New Fairfield) earned the complete game win as she allowed just one earned run and six hits, while fanning five and walking a pair. She stands at 2-4 on the year after Tuesday's victory.
The Gators have a quick turnaround, hosting MCLA tomorrow afternoon. First pitch of the non-conference doubleheader at the Plumeri Sports Complex is set for 5:00 PM.
