ALBANY – Russell Sage College junior John Coddington (Amsterdam, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) was voted the Empire 8 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Rookie of the Year.
Coddington won the hammer throw at the E8 Championships with a toss of 45.93 meters. The school's first E8 champion placed third in the shot put with a throw of 14.16 meters at E8s.
The team captain, who also represented the program on the E8 Sportsmen of the Year Team, competed at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships in both events. He also established program records in the hammer, shot put and discus across his debut spring.
Sophomore Mackenzie Feeney (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) made the E8 Sportswomen of the Year Team.
Feeney, a third-team All-Conference performer in the 800m run, set the program record at the meet with a time of 2:27.99.
