Albany, NY — Russell Sage College has announced the addition of Kyle Young (Branford, CT) to the Athletic Communications staff. Young, who arrives at Russell Sage College after serving as the Coordinator of Athletics Communications at The College of Saint Rose since February of 2017, will help to manage the communications efforts for the RSC intercollegiate athletic program that includes 21 varsity teams and nearly 300 student-athletes.
"I am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to be the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at the Russell Sage College," said Young. "I want to thank Sandy Augstein-Collins, Trish Cellemme, Ann King, and the entire search committee for their efforts throughout the summer. I would also like to thank David Alexander for his continued mentorship, guidance and friendship during my past four-plus years at Saint Rose."
Young spent four and half years working with the Golden Knights student-athletes and 19 varsity teams and helped to streamline the use of NCAA Livestats for the teams, while also hosting numerous Northeast-10 Conference and NCAA Division II Tournaments and events. He arrived at Saint Rose having worked in the athletics communications offices at both Yale University and Southern Connecticut State University, and also served as a Box Office Teller at the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Young was the primary media contact for the nationally ranked Yale men's lacrosse program and held a similar position for the men's soccer, men's basketball, baseball, and swimming and diving programs at Southern Connecticut State. He was furthermore the media and statistics coordinator for the 2014 NCAA Division II East Regional and NE10 men's basketball tournaments.
Young completed internships with the Connecticut Tigers baseball club, The Culinary Institute of America, the Tri-City ValleyCats baseball organization, and the Springfield Falcons hockey club. He also volunteered for the 2014 NCAA Women's Frozen Four, the NY/NJ Super Bowl Committee, the 2010 New Era Pinstripe Bowl Street Team, the NCAA Women's Basketball Albany Regionals and the MAAC Basketball Championships.
Young graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in sports management from Springfield in January of 2011. He earned a President's Achievers Award Scholarship, was a member of the Sport Management Club, and served as the Marketing Chair for the Campus Activities Board as an undergraduate.
Director of Athletic Sandy Augstein-Collins noted, "We are excited to have Kyle join us as our first assistant director of athletic communications!"
