RSC Taps Amir Pasic to lead men's soccer team

Albany, NY — Russell Sage College's Director of Athletics Sandy Augstein-Collins announced the selection of Amir Pasic (Burlington, VT) as the new head men's soccer coach. Pasic arrives at RSC after having served this last season as a member of the Hobart College men's soccer coaching staff.

Director of Athletics Sandy Augstein-Collins commented, "I am thrilled to announce Amir Pasic as our new men's soccer coach!" She added, "Amir comes to Sage with a vast array of experiences - from his Division I and III playing experience as a student-athlete to his vast experience coaching.  He is primed to be a head coach and I look forward to the direction and growth of our men's soccer program under Amir's guidance."

Pasic noted, "It's an incredible honor to be named head soccer coach at Russell Sage College and I'd like to thank Sandy Augstein-Collins, Jim Lyons and the rest of the hiring committee for this tremendous opportunity." He added, "I feel strongly about the program and am excited about the direction the program is headed. I am eager to get started with our returning and future Gators, the memories we will create are ones that will last a lifetime."

While at Hobart for the 2021 season, he helped the Statesmen to an 8-7-2 mark. Prior to his time at Hobart, Pasic spent two years as the head coach of Morrisville State women's soccer team. In 2019, he guided the Mustangs to a 6-11-0 overall record and a 4-7 record in NEAC play. Morrisville's 2020 season was cancelled due to the pandemic. Pasic mentored three all-conference selections with the Mustangs. Prior to Morrisville, he was part of the coaching staff at Middlebury in the spring of 2019 where he was responsible for the organization and execution of player identification clinics along with training sessions and video analysis.

Pasic earned a master's degree in athletic leadership from Castleton in December of 2018. While at Castleton University, he served as a graduate assistant coach for the Spartans men's soccer. During his time on the sideline, Pasic helped the squad capture the 2017 North Atlantic Conference title and a spot in the NCAA tournament. He coordinated team travel, helped with academic oversight and recruiting, and mentored Castleton's goalies.

He also had coaching stints with Hendrix College's men's and women's programs and worked as a goalkeeper coach for Arkansas United in 2016.

Pasic had a stellar collegiate career as a goalie. As a senior at Castleton, he was named the North Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and earned first team All-NAC honors. He was 14-5-3 with eight shutouts and 93 saves. Pasic finished the year with a 0.74 goals against average and an .853 save percentage. Pasic holds the Spartan record for wins in a season. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science.

Pasic began his collegiate career at the University of Central Arkansas. He started all five games he played in during his rookie year, posting a 1.38 GAA and a .750 save percentage.

Amir holds a United Soccer Federation "C" license and a United Soccer Coaches "Advanced National" diploma.
