Union, NJ – The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team travelled to Kean University for a Skyline Conference tri-match. The Gators took on defending league champion Kean in the first of two matches, but fell 3-2 (22-25, 26-24, 25-18, 19-25, 15-10) to the Cougars. The loss snapped the Gators' six-match win streak and was the first conference loss for Sage.  In the nightcap, Sage posted a convincing win over the Dolphins of the College of Mt. St. Vincent (3-0, 25-18, 25-14, 25-23).  The Gators are now 9-2 overall and 4-1 in the Skyline Conference after Sunday's action. Kean improves to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the league after Sunday's action.

Against the Cougars of Kean, the Gators took the first set, but dropped the next two sets in tight play. Sage took the fourth set, 25-19 to force a fifth and final set, but fell to Kean, 15-10.

Gator junior outside Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) paced the team with his nine kills and six digs with just one reception error in 18 attempts. Junior opposite Scott Fitzgerald (Fort Edwards, NY/Queensbury) and sophomore outside Andy Fishman (Cornwallville, NY/Cairo-Durham) added seven kills each, while senior middle hitter Spencer Hilland (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem Central) tallied six kills.  Fishman and senior setter Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) each had three aces for Sage, while Ray handed out 26 setting assists with four block assists. Hilland had a team-best 10 digs and had a .950 reception percentage in the match with just one error in his 19 attempts.

Against the Dolphins of the College of Mt. St. Vincent, Krowicki paced the team with his 11 kills, while sporting a .450 attack percentage. He added seven digs with three blocks for the Gators.  Junior Connor Thompson (Delmar, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) connected for nine kills with four digs and three blocks. Ray racked up an addition 26 setting assists with five digs. Fitzgerald added four kills, three blocks and six digs as the Gators held the Dolphins to a .238 hitting percentage in the match.

The Gators will return to action on February 19 travelling to Purchase College for a Skyline Conference dual match with the Panthers at 7 p.m. The week wraps with Sage travelling to Bard for the Bard Invitational, February 22 and 23. Sage opens round robin play on Friday evening facing Berkeley College (NJ ) at 7 p.m.
