Sage men's volleyball program continues to impress with release of second week of NCAA stats

Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team, which stands at 13-2 on the season, while riding a five match win streak heading into the Skyline Conference contest tonight against Skyline rival and defending league champions, Kean University. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in the Kahl Gym and the first 25 fans at the match will receive a free Sage athletics decal.

With the release of the second week of statistics for NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball, Sage's program continues to rank among the best nationally. As a team, Sage ranks No. 2 in aces per set (2.76), while also ranking No. 2 in win percentage (13-2, .867). The Gators are ranked No. 4 in hitting percentage (.307) and No. 11 in setting assists per set (11.1). The team is also ranked No. 12 in kills per set (11.88) and No. 20 in digs per set (9.86) and No. 24 in blocks per set (1.83).

Sophomore outside Andy Fishman (Cornwallville, NY/ Cairo-Durham), who was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week this past week, marking his fourth selection as the league's top newcomer, continues to impress. He ranks tops in country with his school-record 56 aces. He is first for the second week in a row with his 1.37 service aces per set average.  He checks in No. 14 in hitting percentage (.351), while also standing at No. 25 in kills per set (3.2).

Sage's senior setter Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads), who just recorded his 2,000th career setting assist last week, was cited at the Tournament MVP of the Bard Raptor Invitational for the second year in a row. Ray was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Fishman and junior outside Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls). Ray leads the Gators with his 462 setting assists and ranks No. 17 with his 9.24 setting assists per set average.

Krowicki, who was name to the Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll, ranks 12th nationally in hitting percentage (.361), which is also tops in the Skyline Conference. He is also ranked 26th in aces per set (0.42) and No. 37 in kills per set (2.92).

Also ranked from Sage is senior middle hitter Spencer Hilland (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem Central). Hilland ranks No. 24 in attack percentage with a .318 hitting average. He is also ranked No. 30 with his 0.4 aces per set average and is joined in the national ranking by junior Scott Fitzgerald (Fort Edward, NY/Queensbury), who is No. 47 in hitting percentage (.277).

The Gators are back in action hosting Kean University on February 27 at 7 p.m. in the Kahl Gym, before facing Skyline Conference foe, Ramapo College on March 1 at 7 p.m. on the road.
