Sage volleyball knocks off two foes on Saturday, including Division I Rutgers-Newark


Springfield, MA– The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team wrapped up competition on Saturday at the Springfield College Invitational. The Gators posted two wins on Saturday as they knocked off Lesley University in the first match, 3-0 (25-6, 25-15, 25-16) and then bettered Division I Rutgers University Newark in the final match, 3-2 (15-25, 25-18, 26-28, 26-24, 15-13).  The Gators improve to 21-6 on the year.

Against Lesley, the Gators were paced by senior setter Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) as he tallied 29 32 setting assists.  Junior Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) connected for seven kills with 10 digs. Senior middle hitter Spencer Hilland (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem Central) added 10 kills, while junior Justin Pruiksma (Athens, NY/Coxsackie-Athens) tallied eight kills.

Against the Scarlet Raiders, Sage's troops proved to be too tough for the Division I program. Sage's sophomore outside Andy Fishman (Cornwallville, NY/ Cairo-Durham) added 10 kills with nine digs, while Krowicki had a double-double on his 15 kills and 11 digs.

Hilland tallied 13 kills with nine digs, while junior middle hitter Connor Thompson (Delmar, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) had 12 kills with seven total blocks. Ray wrapped the afternoon with his 55 setting assists.

The Gators are back in action facing another of the AVCA's ranked Division III opponents when they travel to Vassar College on April 3 for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
