Gators ranked in National Statistics; Fishman leads nation in aces

Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's volleyball team, which stands at 10-2 on the season after a 3-0 win on Tuesday night over Purchase College, is among the national statistical leaders with the release of the first NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball statistics this week.

As a team, Sage ranks No. 3 in aces per set (2.45), while standing No. 4 in win percentage (.818) and No. 7 in hitting percentage (.284). The Gators also rank No. 9 in assists per set (11.42) and No. 10 in kills per set (12.13). The Gators also check in at No. 14 in digs per set (10.29) and No. 28 in blocks per set (1.8).

Sophomore outside Andy Fishman (Cornwallville, NY/Cairo-Durham) has a team-best 46 aces on the season and not only leads the Gators with his impressive 1.5 aces per set average, but leads all of Division III.  He ranks 18th nationally in kills per set average (3.4) and No. 27 in hitting percentage (.307).

Sage's senior setter Kyle Ray (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads), who was named the Skyline Conference Co-Player of the Week, ranks 10th in Division III with his 9.55 setting assists per set thus far on the season with the release of the first NCAA Division III statistics.  He boasts a league-leading 391 setting assists, while continuing to add to his active Sage career setting assist record (1,997). 

Gator junior outside Dylan Krowicki (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) ranks No. 18 nationally in hitting percentage with his strong start to the season. He has a team best 123 kills with a .339 attack percentage.

Rounding out the Sage performers listed in the first NCAA statistical rankings is senior middle hitter Spencer Hilland (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem Central). Hilland ranks No. 26 nationally with his .311 attack percentage and now has 643 career kills as a Gator with 358 digs and a program-best 167 total blocks.

The Gators are back in action at the Bard College Raptors Invitational. Sage opens round robin play on Friday evening facing Berkeley College (NJ) at 7 p.m.
