Lee Whittemore joins Sage's men's volleyball coaching staff

Albany, NY---The Sage Colleges Athletic Department announced the selection of Lee Whittemore (Riverdale, NJ/DePaul Catholic) as the new assistant men's volleyball coach, joining the staff of interim Head Coach Sandy Augstein-Collins this season.

Whittemore, a 2012 graduate of the Siena College with a bachelor of arts in English, joins Sage's men's volleyball coaching staff with an extensive resume that includes his role as the captain and team president of the Saints' men's volleyball club. In his four year with the program, he scheduled team trips and matches, including participation in the annual National Collegiate Club Volleyball Championships. He was awarded first team honors as a senior. He also was instrumental in the planning an implementation for a regional tournament, which Siena hosted and featured eight teams. He was also active with the coordination of recruiting events and led the group's fundraising projects.

Augstein-Collins said of Whittemore, "He brings a great deal of enthusiasm and energy to our program." She added, "I am thrilled to have Lee as my Assistant Coach this upcoming season. His knowledge of the game is impressive, while his playing experience will be asset for our players.

The 2013 Gators will open the upcoming season on January 23 when they travel to Bard College for a non-conference match with the Raptors at 7 p.m. The Gators' 2013 home opener will take place on Thursday, February 7 when they host Yeshiva University in a 7 p.m. Skyline Conference match in the Kahl Center.
